The world magnesia is developing towards high quality, high purity and high density in order to improve the slag corrosion resistance and economic use of magnesia products. The properties of magnesia are required as follows: (1) high purity, containing more than 98% MgO. (2) Low R2O3 content, and as low as possible B2O3 content, preferably boron-free. (3) High particle volume density, above 3.4g/cm. (4) High CaO/SiO 2 ratio, greater than 2. (5) The grain size of periclase is larger than 100-200 um. (6) The crystalline phase of periclase forms direct bonding.
